Efex Tablets
Description
Efex tablets contain the antibiotic Marbofloxacin. The 10mg formulation is licensed for use in cats and dogs, whereas the 40mg formulation is licensed for use in dogs only.
In cats
- Marbofloxacin is indicated in the treatment of susceptible strains of organisms causing:
- Skin and soft tissue infections (wounds, abscesses)
- Upper respiratory tract infections
In dogs
- Marbofloxacin is indicated in the treatment of susceptible strains of organisms causing:
- skin and soft tissue infections (skinfold pyoderma, impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, cellulitis)
- urinary tract infections (UTI) caused associated with prostatitis or epididymitis (or not if testing indicates)
- respiratory tract infections
Warnings:
Marbofloxacin is a special antibiotic which we try to protect and so you may find your vet wants to do some more tests before prescribing it.
It should not be used in young, growing animals as it can have an impact on the cartilage in joints.
